"Approximately three months of work including design, finish detail and dozens of layers of glazing in the sky. When I came up with this design, I knew that it would be an extremely difficult painting to do, so it became a bit of a challenge. Since its completion, I am very pleased with the overall surrealistic feel of the piece. The Belted Kingfishers are one of my favorite birds; they always seem to scout up the river just ahead of my boat. Their cries echo down the waterway, almost sounding like shrill laughs.
