“My favorite river in Florida is the Silver River, which feeds from Silver Springs in Ocala. Putting the word ‘pain’ in painting; the detailed river-edge is shaped and distorted by twisted cypress-knees and a Great Egret flies in gracefully from Stage West. The cypress roots were built up with thick gesso and layers of paint to create a slight 3-D effect. The background was done with a completely different palette of colors to enhance depth.
My close-attention to beleaguered and decomposing detail originally came from my early science fiction & surrealistic works; the rotting logs, snaking vines and decay takes extreme detail-work for a realistic effect...” -Peter R. Gerbert
