Real wood frames. Two frames are joined together; rich-wood frame with an inner "textured" frame acting as a liner. Engraved plate included. Outside framing dimensions approximately 21 ½ by 28 inches, with an image size of approximately 13 ½ by 20 inches. Canvas reproduction printed with archival inks on canvas, spray-coated with UV varnish and stretched on strainer-bars for framing.

A play of contrast and colors, the Great Egret's fanned out breeding plumage became a surrealistic background, creating a nice separation from the extreme realism in the foreground. The branches and bird were built up with thick gesso and layers of paint, actually creating some sculpted-detail, adding the illusion of depth.
