"Three months of study, design and painting went into this particular work. Relaxing in my boat one afternoon in one of my favorite places, a cove off of the east side of Silver Lake, I noticed that the water, aquatics, wildflowers and tree-line were creating a gradient of color. It became my goal to capture that natural gradient in a painting. I used the color of the Little Blue Herons to complement the color of the water. The original was painted with acrylics on Strathmore illustration board, 26" x 39. These Iris's have the same image size."           -Peter R. Gerbert
