"Approximately three months of work including design, finish detail and dozens of layers of glazing in the sky. When I came up with this design, I knew that it would be an extremely difficult painting to do, so it became a bit of a challenge. Since its completion, I am very pleased with the overall surrealistic feel of the piece. The Belted Kingfishers are one of my favorite birds; they always seem to scout up the river just ahead of my boat. Their cries echo down the waterway, almost sounding like shrill laughs. Close relative of Australia’s Laughing Kookaburra." Peter G
