As they peer out with innocent eyes, their little minds take in all this new information. Torrents of brand new sensations. They hear the wind blow through the tree tops. They feel the roughness of the tree bark around them. They hear the birds that sing merrily in the nearby brush. Only one thing here is slightly incorrect; the protective Mother Bear meandering about behind them is slightly transparent. Does She exist here only in the imaginations of her cubs? The actual Cubs I studied for this painting were orphaned and taken care of at the Big Bend Wildlife Sanctuary in North Florida. With a tremendous amount of care at the sanctuary, the Cubs were raised healthy and eventually released into the Ocala National Forest, were they now roam freely." -Peter R. Gerbert Now available as an Fine Art Print. |
